Project Overview
The town of Norton has completed the Design Development (DD) phase of the Norton High School repair, renovation, and addition project.
Please
click to download the recent presentation made to the building committee
by our Architects and Engineers, as part of the DD phase. We have
selected W.T. Rich as
our Construction Management company. W.T. Rich, JCJ Architecture,
Pinck & Company, and the Building Committee worked collaboratively to
complete the DD, which has been submitted to the MSBA. This DD phase
also included a detailed Value Engineering review by the Building Committee
to help ensure the project stays under budget throughout construction. As we move further through the process, we will keep updates posted to this website.
We are excited that the town has approved this proje
ct, through town meeting appropriation (90% approval) and debt exclusion election (70% approval). Our reimbursement
rate has been determined to be 64.42%. which will bring $21.1M in state
grant dollars to our High School project. The MSBA Board of
Directors voted to approve the Norton High School renovation/addition
project.

The project includes a two-floor
addition on the east end of the school (near football field), along with
a complete repair/renovation of the existing building. It will
bring the building up to
code, meet state space and educational
requirements, replace systems, heat, roof, windows and ceiling/flooring as
well as making many other enhancements to the school.
The project scope includes the full repair/renovation of:
windows, heating/ventilation, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roof,
accessibility, ceiling/flooring tiles, asbestos, fire/safety,
classrooms, science labs, technology, gym space and locker rooms, storage,
cafeteria/kitchen, auditorium, general space needs, music/band, and
restrooms. An addition will be included.
The total cost is $34M (includes cost of sewer
connection), of which the
town would be responsible for $12.9M after the MSBA
reimbursement of 64.42%.
